need a job

Am wanting to become a qaulified electrician and after 3 months of searching for courses 2 of which were being told by one company that there domestic installer course they offered qaulified me as one.I have found a company that will do C@G 2330 levels 2 and 3 /2382/2391/2377 and part p for around ÂŁ7000 i am hoping to do this over a 9 month period using the time inbetween to work with an electrician. I understand that people that do these short courses are looked down on but this is my only option as am leaving the army and at the age of thirty have quite a bit of financial responsibility to do years at college. Just wanted to know from people out there if after doing these courses you think i would be confident enough to go down the self employed route and also how do you get work on building sites? also with these qaulifications is there any electrical work i am not allowed to undertake

any answers would be helpful as after checking on some sites am getting more and more confused by the day thanks

Hi
I would be wary if I were you.
Many of these courses are just focussed on getting you through online exams.
Unless you already have some experience, you are unlikely to feel at the end of the course that you have the confidence to tackle the real world.
I have to say also that you are not going to pass a 2391 after a short course. It is very demanding.
Perhaps they are offering the 2392?

I dont mean to pour cold water on your enthusiasm.
If you are a good learner, you will probably be able to pass 2382, DISQ, 2377 and maybe 2392.

The theory and technical side of things IS important and worth paying attention to.
I am just warning you that at the end of the course, you will need to be realistic about your prospects for being able to tackle "real-world" situations.

Finally I think 7k is a pile of money for what is likely to be on offer.

But anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do.
