i fitted a new rcbo to a ring over a year ago and now its tripping so naturally its my fault. Switched everything off

Ramp tested rcbo 28ma
rcd test 1x 34ms 5x 28ms
ring continuity
L - L O.78 OHMS
N - N 0.77 OHMS.

Old PME system so no cpc its the steelwork.

IR 89.3 Mohms PN >E (GN3 method 2)

still a fault and my mates pat testing the gear tommorow any ideas???

upgrade protection on an existing circuit and later it trips out..
id say good job they got you in..coz that new protection could have just saved thier lives
its fault protection init.

Did you ask them if they were switching something on at the time it tripped or if anything was running ie washing machine / dishwasher I once got a O yes we were plugged in that old standard lamp to see if it was working so since your here could you look at it for us.

kettle..washing machine...old microwave....hob...water heater....my best one was a boiler which tripped each time auto ignition kicked in(well almost each time) and it was only 3 years old..
 
Hair tongs, straighteners etc, the cable cores crack where they go into the body of the appliance, outer insulation looks fine though. same with Irons, toastie machines and kettles. Another good one is water in the connections in base of the of cordless kettles...this happened in my house a while back. :eek:

Was the testing done with loads applied ?

The Rcd/Rcbos may be operating with accumalation of leakages from various sources
Perhaps testing with the loads applied might unviel something
