fault

I was wiring central heating in energized ( supposidly tested ) house, with only the upstairs lights breaker turned on i was getting 240v N - E on the heating supply ( seperate 16 v supply ). Dug a little deeper and had crossed neutrals / lives on the upstairs/downstairs lighting. sorted that all faults clear. still confused as to why i had 240v on heating supply ! any ideas ?

Was the neutral mix up in a consuner unit with more than one neutral bar?

neutrals were in the right places. had cross strappers on a 3gang landing switch

must of been back feeding through the neutrals on the other side of the board
