Hi Guys,
I was called out to look at a shower that was running cold water only.I removed the cover and confirmed that the supply voltage 230 was present.A plumber has replaced the shower but the new one has not cured the fault. The only thing that I have noticed is that when you pull the shower pull cord to the on position the neon on the switch goes dim.The 230v at the shower still remains with the shower running cold water.Any ideas please?
Thank you

check the neutral for continuity as well mate, you should have it with what ung says as well, ,tiss unlikely to be the same fault on both showers, but dont rule out a faulty batch of parts.

Thanks for your replies guys, the shower is a gainsboro. It sounds like a good idea to check the neutral supply.Do you think the the dim neon at switch on is a clue?

The answer is i dont know, as other things can effect a neon. I will say the switch is gonna be the prime culprit, and will be easiest place to start. Let us know how you get on as loads of peeps solve the faults without reporting back, as it were, you may find another fault that I can learn from . check the load cable is what it says it is as well-i.e goes to the shower !!it can be confusing when the wire your testing goes back to the board and not the shower, has led to certain sparkys, ok me, lifting the wrong floor boards in the past when a fault was identifid in a cable. Happy hunting !!

Probably needs a new switch. neutrals burn out very often on 45A pull switches as customers never swich them off (wife inc).We replace loads every year.Gainsbourgh shower - good luck:):D
