Hi lads
I did a rewire 2 and a half years ago and the guy just phoned up and said both smoke detectors (mains interlinked) are beeping every minute or so. They arn't beeping at the same though. He's tried replacing the battery and also shorting the capactor (he read this on the interenet)
Green light is on and circuit is live (apparently)
Any Idea why this is happening?
Do I have an obligation to replace them FOC if cant get em working?
Any input would be much appreciated

Check with your supplier regarding warrantee, if covered then replace if out of warrantee replace at cost as good will gesture.
I might just get the wholesaler to deliver two new ones to em and Ill pay. They can just slide the old alarm of the backplate and new one on. I've rewired 4 properties for these people so I dont mind.

Just spoke to the client again. He now says hes taken the alarms off the backplates, put them in the garage, turned the circuit off.....and the backplates still bleep????????
This guy is not an alcoholic/lunatic either

oh no lol i had one just like this get him to look through his cupboards how much do you want to bet that he has a standard battery one in a drawer or cupboard thats bleeping , been there found one in a cupboard and i still giggle about it and my customer said exactly the same thing ive removed the head and the base is bleeping lol

If it's Aico. They beep once every 40seconds if low battery. Beep twice 10 mins after pressing hush to let you know hush is finished. Sounds like something else now though.

Got a 2 am call out to a house alarm that was keeping them awake, turned out it was a redundant smoke that had'nt been disposed of. Well pleased to say the least.
