I appreciate we all start somewhere, but I went to a job today and they had just had their shower changed by someone and it was blowing fuse.
The idiot had took a power shower off the wall and stuck an 8.5 kW electric shower on the end of the 3A supply (1mm2 T&E), capping off the hot water supply,
I don't like slagging off people who are trying to make a living but WTF, this fella should not be allowed out, let alone asking for money to mess up peoples houses!

I've been to one before where shower was on it's own circuit at consumer unit in 6mm ( found out was old cooker supply that they had pulled back) that went to a pull switch
Only to be jb somewhere before there in 2.5

To actually terminate a 1mm T&E into an electric shower beggars belief!!!

i know what you mean, absolute madness and also if they went to the sheds for the cable it even gives them nice little usages for what each cable can take???? wish they would keep their sticky little fingers off

yeh i remember a call out i got one saturday afternoon from a guy i know that owns a few property's, i had priced the job earlier and guess what he had someone else do it on the sly.
anyway the call went something like.... my electrician is here and is having trouble getting the lights to work?? can you come and help him??
so not only for the call out i told him he would be paying also for curiosity got there and the clown had made a right mess of the place, "electrician my bum"
cable in the kitchen cable tied to th c/heating pipes around the place light fittings same old story all the blacks and reds etc etc.
ended up getting the lights back on and charging him more than originally quoted for the rest of the shambles. oh and gave the so called electrician a nice little lecture :D:D

I'm no grass, but lately I've seen a few things and think it's about time these idiots got a scare to make them think twice before doing electrical work, and I want to see some cowboys getting done. I just think it's a bit unfair how most of us spend years and thousands getting qualified and kitted out to try and trade by the law, and these retards are just doing as they please and the law don't seem to care!

does seem that way have a look at THIS ?? don`t think that will put many off

There is too many boil in the bag courses out there . I have just finished on a site where my chargehand was work as a cleaning supervisor at sainsburys this time last year and then paid ÂŁ6000 and got his qualifications then sent off for his JIB gold card all within 8 months and it was all internt based and he has never had any electrical experience . Just great at being in the click.

All I say is if he were to pull out his JIB card out he may as well just get his nectar card out.

Plus its these guys who take a sparks job going for say ÂŁ10ph and the employer knows people will go for it so whats his need of putting it up .

GetAttachment.jpg Hows about this one Rented property , change of tenant , NIC Regestered Electrical company ,Put in main switch RCD and removed a shower , tails were the wrong way round and this was how it was left , and yes it was live !! John Wayne would have been proude of this one

Just rectified a problem with a socket in an attached outbuilding. Customer had it put in ro run a tumble dryer (10.1A load). All nice clipped to the wall in 2.5mm and run back into the bathroom loft space. This was then terminated into a lighting JB off of the 6A supply circuit!!!!
