First of all I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that got involved. I did not expect that amount of people having a go and that many PM's lol. I know better for next time and will prepare myself accordingly.

This is the first time we have done this kind of Q&A on this forum and I/we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions please.

How can it be done better? Do we all (this mean you the trainees) need to make some basic/easy to follow rules to make this as simple as it can be? eg. At the start of each question state:- Do not post up your answers, please PM them to the person asking the question and wait xx amount of days for a posted answer???? I put xx days due to there may be the odd few small questions that only need a short answer and not as in-depth.

Should the Questionnaire state what level the question is at? Level 2, level 3, 2394 etc etc???

I've made a coupe of phone calls today to my friends that are Electrical Lecturers and they are willing to pass me some up date C&G Q&A's that can be posted up and from there we can debate them??

What areas do you think you need help on? Testing, H&S, cable selection, Volt Drop, safe zones, containment systems?? Whatever you need help on, just post it up or send a PM to any of the Mentors (members that spend time in this section) and just ask.

Going by the first Q&A thread, I think this is a really good thing and something I/we are more than willing to spend time on. You are the members of this section, this is your section, you tell us how you want it to develop.

You can reply by posting up on this thread or you can PM me if you dont want your suggestions to be seen, up to you. Every PM will be looked at and replied to.

Get thinking then put your thoughts forward. It's your ideas that will shape this section over the next few months, and they will last for years to come for the trainees of the future when you may be their supervisor on site!!!! (hope that has got you thinking  )

Personally I think the system that has just been used worked well. PM your answers to the question and have the answer posted 7days later for discussion.

In terms of level and areas thats slightly more tricky, however saying that as budding electricians im sure most of us own a copy of BS7671 to refer to for guidance.
I am happy for questions on any topic as I feel it will test my knowledge and get me thinking.

That is my thoughts anyway. nice 1

Much as was said by Simonslimline, really; I thought the format worked really well. For your own sake, if you want to save yourself reading through pages of answers, put a rough limit on answer length. If you don't mind reading the long answers, then that's great as it allows trainees of different levels to put more - or less - into it, depending on their abilities.

C&G-type questions would be cool, but what I'd also be interested in (much like your first question) are the grey areas, where there's perhaps more than one way of thinking about it.

All in all, sounds great! Thanks for your time and effort on this. Crack on! :)

Thanks for the replies Simon and Steve.

The length of PM's is not an issue, type up whatever you think is the correct answer regardless of word count.

What day of the week do you think is best to post and reply to the weekly question? Does it really matter to anyone? Do members log on more at the weekends or through the week? Also going to do short answer questions set for 2-3 days, these will just pop up whenever, so keep your eyes open. I'll do one of them in fact.
