I live in a ground floor flat which has 7 lights and a shaver plug, last night I turned on the bedroom light and it fizzed and then seemed to lack energy rather than blow a bulb. All the lights failed and I immediatley went to the fuse box, and low behold none of the switches had turned off. Confused and dazed I thought maybe that it was just a blown bulb so I changed the bedroom bulb but no difference the lights didnt work!!
I turned on the spare room light this morning forgettng the lights weren't working and found that the spare room and the hallway were working, none of the other lights were working still.
Has anyone got any suggestions for me before I call out an electrician.

It sounds like you might have a loose connection in one of your lights in the spare room or hall therefore causing the rest of the lights following on the circuit to loose a supply. I have to say for safety reasons though you shouldn't attempt to rectify unless you know what your doing. Hope it helps in some way.

almost certain. if you feel confident, isolate the circuit and check the connections. otherwise, call an electrician out. shouldn't take more than an hour, tops.

my advice same as rest of the guys turn mcb that says lighting (or 6a) OFF and post where you are and possibly a member could sort you out or call your own electrician shouldnt take more than 1hr
goodluck
