Hi Guys , I was just keen on your proffered thoughts for fixing Solar PV Panels to a fibre cement roof.

We have metal Z purlins to fix to at 1350mm centres

I was going to cross rail the complete roof, but was wondering if any one had any different thoughts

system size is 6 rows of 18 panels in landscape approx 27Kwp

Thanks for your replies

Hi, if you are planning on the panels going in landscape (ideal), you shouldn't need to cross rail. Just run a line of hangar bolts with metal thread up the roof (from gutter to ridge) along the high point of the corrugate, and run the rail on top of them. So long as your rail is rated for a 1.35m span this will fine. Then clamp the panels as normal.

We will be happy to provide a bill of materials and quotation for the mounting system, and the rest of the kit as well if needed. We also provide a free of charge service for commercial installs that you may be interested in. Just Google "spitfire wholesale projects"

Hi We have a similar project where we are looking to install a 50 kWp PV system. I might be wrong here, but traditionally for these roofs ( Fire cement), the Z purlins are put in to just hold the weight of the roof. So will we have to strengthen the purlins??

Also is it safe to work on these roofs?? Do we need to put netting? Any thoughts welcome

You really should have asbestos check/drilling, structural survey, and netting is a must, some say you can use crawling boards, or if you enjoy living you could use both.

I hope this helps.
