I am filling in Electrical Installation Certificate, for a new double socket in a large department store. On the second page of the cert under ,'supply characteristics and earthing arrangements', and then 'number and type of live conductors', is this asking about the primary supply or the supply that is feeding the board that the double socket is coming off:confused:. A few more questions to come and hope this will help others as well!!!

could you answer this one? On the schedule of circuit details for the installation and schedule of test results for the installation there are 2 boxs that say ,'only to be filled in if the distribution board is not connected directly to
the origin of the installation. Could you explain what this means?

You enter the local distribution information.. For example the zdb etc

If the DB that the circuit you're working on is a sub-main from the the intake position i.e protected via an additional switchfuse and over the generally accepted 3M rule, then this is when you fill in the "characteristics at this distribution board" sections.

Guys, would it be a good idea to go through the Electrical Installation Certificate, one section at a time so any body on the site can use it as a reference. What do you think:)

Or just buy the NIC Inspection, testing and certification book which does exactly that for every type of certificate and save yourself the hassle :)

To answer the question it's supply at the origin so probably 3 phase 4 wire in a large commercial even though you might be working on a single phase board run from a submain. Go PIR hunting in their office and copy from that if that's easier

got the new GN3 book yesterday and while I was in the shop I seen that book, after I submitted the post, flicked through it and yes a very good book . But I thought it would be a good idea for us to post some info for other people as well, suppose we could help just as they post their questions???:)

Could you tell me , is their a rule about a DB being more than three meters away from the mains
