Hi not filled out many certificates , just done a job wiring up a shed ( 2 lights off a fused spur and a socket)came off a socket radial circuit from the garage which is supplied from a small RCD 3 way board, I've put this down as an addition to an existing circuit? And also couldn't disconnect something that was already plugged in to the existing sockets.... can I put N/A o the live-live IR box on the test certificate or am I not allowed as it has the new installation connected to it?

would of been easier to fill out a minor works cert instead.

Your circuit starts from your fused spur.

It as an addition to existing installation.

When items can't be disconnected, strap L&N together and test to earth at 250v.

Yeah i did do that bit and was fine, but when im filling out the test certificate and testing the circuit from the mcb surely im putting the results down for that part aswell?

This might come over as a silly question but your OP makes it sound as if you conducted IR tests on L-E and N-E with the power connected?

Why couldn't you unplug everything?

Loads of stuff couldnt get to all the plugs, and nah i tested with power off for IR test , on the box which says extent covered i did just put my new addition part only, would that mean thats all i have to test? Even though its connected to an existing circuit? Or because i have added to that circuit am i mow responsible for the whole circuit? I cant see how you can be responsible for work you havent done yourself?

Hum... if you add to a circuit you are adding to the load. If you don't know what's connected to the existing circuit, how can you tell if what you are doing is not going to overload the circuit. So yes you do take responsibility...

That said why are you using an EIC for a change to a circuit, when a MWC would do?
