Hi guys, I am currently fitting a 4 zone fire panel in a set of bedsits containing 5 bedsits and one flat. This is on 3 levels and I have wired it with smoke detectors on the 3 landings and installed heat detectors inside the bedsits and kitchens so as to avoid false alarms due to smoking in rooms and burnt toast etc in kitchens.
I have the 3 levels of the house on a zone each with a break glass in between each zone and wired the flat on its own seperate zone. There is also a sounder on each level of the house.
I am getting somebody in to commission the job on tuesday next week and he has told me that I will need an additional mains powered smoke detector inside each bedsit. Is this correct? And can you see any other possible problems I may encounter when the commissioning takes place?

Hope I have described this well enough and I appreciate any advice.

Many thanks, Paul

If its an older style property with only standard 30 minute rated plastered ceilings, then I would agree with the requirement for faster response--i.e Mains smokes in bedsits

agree on the smokes, wouldnt rely on just heats, but could fit smokes on to the panel instead of mains ones, tho the posted link recommends local smokes but that might be a ucl thing, depends what the jobs spec says and who done the ra..

General layout for a block of flats is as you've described with a conventional fire alarm system, along with standard domestic mains powered smokes with battery backup in the flats also.

My fire officer always asks for it to be done this way.

the bedsit will need smoke detection anyhow-an additional mains alarm or maybe this type of thing

Fike Document Lookup

these come with sounder and have a few different settings -delay etc. for wiring to a panel

always best to get these systems designed properly anyhow
