Hi I am about to add 3 manual call points to an existing fire panel as it does not have them already installed to a block of flats as system ok but my question is what certification do I issue as it is only minor but there is no original certification at premises help thanks

Seeing as you are adding to an existing panel with no existing certification, i would have thought that you need to test the whole installation and certify the whole thing. As in effect its an alteration to a circuit, which if it were a lighting circuit for example, yoiu would test the whole thing. Especially as its a life safety system , these things are MEANT to be maintained regularily and records kept. I would charge your client with a full re-commision of the system and then you can certify the installation with confidence

I would be issuing a modifiction cert and a commissioning cert. Under Niciee i would think there would be a similar certs for fire section

If you don't have any training and certification to bs5839-1 I wouldnt be very keen on giving any sort of certificate for that work. It means you are responsible for that whole system and if anything was to happen during an emergency then the buck stops with you. I was advised against doing any of this sort of work, you can still install but I would recommend passing the design and certification to somebody with BAFE or similar qualifications.
