fire alarm querys

hi i am quoting to install a fire alarm in a unit which is being used to store toilet paper and sanitry items would it be better to use heat or smoke detectors and does anybody know the distances that they have to be spaced between detectors any advice would be great thanks

Not being funny, ...but if you need to ask such basic questions as these, perhaps you should be asking yourself, if your competent enough to be undertaking such work, especially in such a high risk environment as a factory dealing primarily in paper products.....

Remember you will be solely responsible for the design, installation, testing and implementation of this installation...

Sorry to sound off putting, but I would seriously would be asking who has done the risk assessment on this unit.
If you are talking about a fairly large unit, storing paper and such combustable materials. I would say an early warning system would be require to put up early signs of smoldering fires. Therefore i can see a vesda system being put forward.
Most warehouse containing large quanities of wood, paper and packaging usual request this system.
