Hi I was hoping someone could give me some advice or point me in the right direction. Ive been asked to quote for a fire alarm in a small shop with a flat above now im not sure what I would need to do with regards to the flat.

The shop is an icecream shop, which has 1 room with an ice cream counter and a public entrance, a back room with a sink and a rear exit, and a cellar I was thinking a detector and sounder for each room, probably across 2 zones (ground floor and cellar). and a break glass at each door.

My main question then i suppose is concerning the flat above the shop which has just 1 entrance/exit to the rear of the shop but independant from the shop. Its not liveable and is unlikely to be rented out in the near future if ever. So do i need to fit anything in the flat? At 1st i thought a sounder would do but then i got to thinking would it need a detector also?

I am going to check the local councils website for the requirements but i was just wondering if anyone had any advice really because im starting to think if im going to quote for the fire alarm then I should really be suggesting EM lighting as well as im sure these will be part of any requirements the customer is trying to meet!

Thanks in Advance

You say asked to quote - so really you are being asked to design too ? To be able to design you need to know what standard to design to - the owner must have something from planning that says what they want.

Your going to need to provide "as fitted drawings " so why not start by asking the client - you may find they have it all for you or they may not understand their responsibilities !

Check the appropriate British Standards, can't remember the BS number, speak to your local council as they may have additional requirements to the BS's, and have a word with your local fire service, they will be more than happy with you meeting the relevant british standards, but may also give you some additional good advice, as they are the ones who pick the bits up when it all goes t**s up.

Cheers..........Howard

Basically, they are asking you to quote on designing and installing a system that complies with regulations and fulfils their requirement.
Sorry to sound harsh, but if you don't know what to do then surely it's better to say it is not something you have experience with, and tell them to get a firm in who does, rather than "wing it" with advice from a public forum.
After 20 odd years in the profession, I still come across jobs which I don't feel I am the best person to carry out, and I tell the client.

As they differ in their interests, abilities and objectives in life, different people pursue different careers. Some love to be doctors, while others prefer to be scientists. Some like to be workers, whereas others choose to be technicians. My ideal career, however, is teaching. The reasons are as follows.dd Connecticut Asian Escort surveying over 3000 Americans from seven different cities, including New York, within two Connecticut Escort to three days of the attack.itself, their personal circumstances at the Connecticut Asian Escorts time, and how they felt. To find out whether the memories formed would be lasting ones, the group sent out the same survey to the same participants again 11 Connecticut Escorts months later, andFirst, I can enjoy much freedom in my work. I will not frequently be told what to do and how to do it. The content of my lessons and the way I give them are largely determined by myself, which will leave more room for my imagination and creativity. In addition, I can always stay young mentally. Being with the young people most of the time, I will be influenced by their idea and lifestyle. I will then, feel that I am always in fashion. Furthermore, I will have two long vacations and much flexible time in which I can enjoy doing what I like to do.
But teaching is also a demanding career, especially in a society as ours in which new things and knowledge come in multitude. Therefore, I have to read as much as possible to acquire the knowledge needed for my work.
