Hi all when changing a fire panel from a very old one to a new one why would all the zones show a fault?? Now I know that you need EOL in the lst smokes ect, what other season could this be?? Would u recommend changing all smoke and heats for new, with s new EOL?? I have got continuty on all zones!! Another Q I have is, is it possible to connect 2cct in one zone?? Eg downstairs and break glass = zone 1 Thanks

its possible that the original EOL resistors arent right for the new panel. there's usually a packet that comes with the panel. the terminals on fire panels are usually fairly tight, 2 conductors will fit but its not ideal and if you have a fault on 1 leg it mightn't get picked up by the panel cause it'll see the EOL on the other leg. hope this helps.

Now I know that you need EOL in the lst smokes ect, EOL is fitted at the last device on the zone. what other season could this be?? Did you use the EOL's that came with the new panel? If so then i would say the detectors might not be compatible with the new panel. Would u recommend changing all smoke and heats for new, with s new EOL?? I have got continuty on all zones!! This helps alot thank you all! The one EOL devices was those already in the zones, there was no such packet in this Tate fire panel, I know it's not a good make, I didn't supply it, how do I know what is compatible for this panel?

Maybe by reading the destruction's that came with the panel would be a good starting point!!!!

Oooops, ...maybe i should have said ''Instructions'' ...lol!!!!

Most panels should come with the EOL devices fitted into the zone connections. If you are using existing EOLs then you need to make sure they are of the correct value for the new panel eg. 4K7 ohms.

The best advice I can give is pass the job on to someone with fire alarm experience. This is a safety system and you are potentially putting other peoples life at risk with limited knowledge and exprience. Sorry to be negative but badly installed and maintained emergency systems are a pet hate of mine

is this panel brand new? the spec in the instructions will tell you what EOL you need but chances are it'll be 4k7. if you know any alarm engineers they'll have loads of spares.try them in the terminals before connecting the zones. is there a fault showing on the sounder circuits cause sometimes they can be a different EOL? dont forget to test all the devices (can of smoke spray). no point in changing the panel if the smokes arent responding.

Do you know what make the old panel was and the new you said Tate? I've come across a couple of these very basic, it is either you need to replace the eol with new ones which should be in the panel if new... Some panels use resistors but some use the active eol with capacitors diodes etc, also some systems are twin wire systems where the zone and sounder circuits are all on the same cable and you can't mix the two types

General rule of thumb before connecting any zones etc is to power the panel up with all end of lines fitted in the panel to prove the panel is ok then connect zones one by one

If you know the details of the panel I may be able to find out the eol details but with all respect if unsure about fire alarms don't start messing as should anything happen and a fault is found you were the last person there and could end up in the dock
