Hi all

Need some advise on fire alarms. Been asked to quote for fitting of two wireless fire alarms in a residential home, when fitted do I need to get a fire alarm engineer to commission it or is there a way of doing it myself?

Also been asked to fire proof cables in mains cupboard what would be the best way put them in steel trunking or is there any other way people have come across that will give the right level of protection?

Thanks

Fireproofing might be achieved with fire board and fire rated expanding foam. as far as the wireless alarms not too sure if you mean 2 detectors or 2 systems or if they require a panelled system or not so need a bit more info

Tbh, from the nature of your questions, you should not be installing life critical systems. No offence, but if it goes t**s up, at best you could face a large claim for which you are probably not insured, at worst, be in court facing a manslaughter charge.

I have direct experience of people affected by the Rosepark Care Home fire in which a number of residents lost their lives. The subsequent FAI demonstrated the folly of tradesmen not sticking to what they were qualified and experienced to do.

Regards
