Hi I have first and second fixed many fire alarm systems in pubs small hotels I have wired but never commissioned and signed off, would like to get into this but hearing lots of different things. Could someone point me right direction/qualifications cheers

Try www.fia.uk.com. I am looking to do their fire alarm course modules later this year. They are supposed to be the best out there. The courses aint cheap but if you are looking to expand in this field you may well recoup your investment in a relatively short period of time as well as gaining extensive knowledge along the way.

Problem is its not regulated properly, but you are correct, training FIA or BSI good step forward, BAFE approval as a company is the best recongnised.

I second that, done parts 1,4&5 last year they are excellent! also the emg lighting too
quite expensive but well worth it! Also you get manuals on each course which are very well laid out and informative that you can refer too afterwards

i would at least look at getting these quals before designing/commissioning FA systems

bafe membership is not mandatory but are sometimes specified on larger contracts, even most fire alarm companies are not bafe registered its quite involved and expensive, but if you are like me and just need to install relatively simple and smaller systems then these courses are ideal, especially if you have an amount of working knowledge allready
