First buy for test equipment!

Does anyone think a Fluke 1651B Multi-function Tester will be a good starting out tester? (Only looking to work in the domestic enviroment as im sure that makes a difference)

Also I am looking for a voltage tester looking at the Fluke T50 Voltage & Continuity Tester (I have a cheaper alternative that I think is on its last legs LOL)

If anyone has any advice or the usual preferences please jump in. Thanks

personally, i'd go for megger 1552 or 1553. one good reason is you don't have to null leads for efli testing.

I must admit I use a megger 1552 at college. So im not sure why I am drawn to a fluke

I've got a (fairly old) 1651 and I will be changing it for a megger when calibration is due.

How do you find it? It looks simple to operate. Maybe I should go to a wholesalers and have a closer look at one.

It is simple to use and does the job, just think the meggers are more reliable. Best thing is to try one out and compare to what you've used before.
