longboat

What assumptions do you make purely from a username, eg Longboat.
Comments please, my reason for asking will be revealed in time.:ninja:

I assumed that you were a Viking on your way to invade :)

He's in Geordieland and a lot of Geordies can trace their ancestry back to the Norse folk who sailed over to here in their longboats on raping & pillaging tours.

Some settled here and maybe our Friend here is one of their descendants?

and you say scousers are tea leaves?? :hump:

Following on from my post #3 and the Norse aspect:

So Olav the Norse was getting himself all set to embark on another rape & pillage mission to ancient Britain, and asked Their Lass Helga if she wanted anything bringing back as a souvenir or whatever.

Helga who happened to be blind said; "well Olav, I've heard of a thing called a sink that the Britons use to wash things in. If it's not too much trouble, d'ye think you could fetchis one back pet?"

"Whey man .. nowt's th' botha pet .. I'll get ye owt ye like me bonny lass!" said Olav as he set off on his way to the Longboat.

Several days later and after much raping, pillaging and merry-making in a part of Britain known as Geordieland, it was time for Olav and his mates to head back home and it was while they were staggering back to their Longboat moored at Mill Dam in Sooth Shields that Olav realised he had forgotten the sink that he'd promised Helga.

Now Olav had never seen a sink or even heard of one so really didn't know what he was looking for but knew it had to be something that would contain water and crockery. He also knew he didn't have much time to go searching for one either, as they didn't want to miss the tide and be late back home for Last Orders.

It was while they were passing a building site that Olav got his eye on Oz - a Geordie brickie - carrying a hod load of bricks, so in Olav's mind if this thing could hold bricks it could also hold water and dirty dishes, so he and his mates waylaid Oz and nicked his hod.

A couple of days later, and Olav returns home to Their Lass who greets him with hugs & kisses (as they do) and Olav says: "Well pet, ye remember ye ask'd is to' get ye a sink? ... Well this is yer lucky day.! Here ye are" and handed Helga the hod.

Well Hega ran her hands over it (she's blind & cannit see remember) and sez t' Olav: "Oh pet ... it's beautiful and just what I've always wanted. Thanks very much yer a canny gadgee!!"

So there you have it - proof of the truth of the old saying:

A hod's as good as a sink to a blind Norse.

Ha ha, that's what i thought. I knew i could count on in veno veritas.
Glad to see some are still awake at this hour.
As you know i have not been long on these shore's but the gf,wife other half (i am not married but may as well be) had a theory that the name "longboat" implied that i was addopting the persona of a well endowed indivryiduall who was on the look out for some action. shake of head.
I just like the phrase thats all, and i have blonde hair. Maybe i am a decendand of the viki ng's?
Anyhoo i will print this page and show her you'r view's, or prehaps i will carry on winding her up:devil2:
