Hi all, first post

My mum recently asked me to have a look at her dishwasher, she has been gettin a shock from the metal on the inside of the door, i borrowed a multimeter and did some checks, im no expert btw, i just know a few basics, im getting 250 volts ac between the door and earth ( im usin the copper pipes from under the sink as an earth), also getting 250v ac from a socket on the wall (just from the screws) this i know isnt right, and is potentially lethal, would this be a fault on the appliance or the socket, any help much appreciated

Jim

Best to unplug the appliance then check the socket again and if you get the same reading, call an electrician to test your installation.

Oh btw welcome to the forum.

Well at least we can confirm you have main bonding in place or Mum would be rather dead!!!

Could be anything shorting to earth, as previously stated,

Get a professional out STRAIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is the very real chace of someone getting killed!
