I have my first job where I need to install a Sub meter.
The situation is a shop which is being split into two shops and a new supply meter is beyond there budget.
Buiding was originally two shops, so each already has its own consumer unit with tails from a DP Henley block.
I need to know firstly the best position to place the sub meter. One shop only will have access to the basement where the main meter is. So should I place the sub meter in the other shop on the tails comming up from the basement or in the basement close to Henley block.

Secondly where can I get a decent priced sub meter from which is easy to install.

Any advice appreciated.

Presumably, this is a tenant/landlord arrangement where the landlord will re-sell electricity to the 2nd shop tenant.
If so, then there may be other considerations that relate to the meter position.
Will the landlord have access to the sub meter to take readings?
Will the tenant have access to the supply fuse?

AFAIK there is no specific electrical regulation requirement in respect of sub meter position, so I would be tempted to put the sub meter where the landlord wants it. You could even fit a second meter in the other shop if the tenant wanted one too. (ÂŁ12.00 each)
