Can anyone recommend an FIT provider? Have been reading about some of the EDF nightmares and would like to avoid any hassle.

We recommend Good Energy to all our customers - you can actually talk to them!

British Gas are easy to deal with during FIT applications.
FIT application delays can and do occur, but not nearly as much as EDF.
FITs are paid quickly following meter reading submissions.
BG's FIT offices are near Old Trafford, Manchester should any problems occur.

I am with Scottish Power, their application was much too long and took a while to set up, but now its up and running its all good, with prompt payments.

we were with ecotricity and they were a nightmare, went a very long time without paying us anything

When choosing a FIT provider it is important to find out how many days the contract is specified to legally complete payment.
Stated payment times in many energy firms FIT contracts vary from 30 days (British Gas) to 90 working days (EDF).
Some FIT contracts dont specify the maximum statutory payment time.

Which's FIT provider survey revealed the following:

1 in 3 customers have had problems getting paid within a reasonable time period.
Eon and SSE were the worst offenders for late payment.
72% of Eon customers had problems with payments, as did 46% of SSE customers.
Eon's late payment was attributed to problems transfering to a new payment system.
SSE endeavours to make payments within 28-65 days.
Please can other forum members state how long their FIT contracts stipulate to complete payment.
