FIT rate for April 2012-on installs already set? | on ElectriciansForums

Discuss FIT rate for April 2012-on installs already set? in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thanks, cja.

I appreciate that the 2010-2012 rate has increased by index-linking to 43.1, but was wondering if the rates for 2012-on install had also been determined at the beginning, as suggested by that chart? Or, are the new rates for April-2012-on installs still to be decided?

When FiTs were first announced DECC published the expected degression rates right through to March 2021 - when a <4kW PV systems would get 18p. But these were based on 2010 prices and always subject to review in light of changes in market prices for installations.

Each years indexation uplift can only be fixed after the start of a new year as the RPI to 31st December has to be known first.

DECC do reserve the right to make changes at any time and under any circumstances where they deem it required to stay within the terms of the EU approval for the scheme.

Thanks, Ted - that makes sense. I guess, to put it crudely, if the take-up rate becomes what they reckon is 'excessive', then they'll temper this by dropping the rate from 2012...
