Hello,

I would have put this in the "DIY" section but it wont let me post?!!!

Looking for some advice on adding a PIR into the existing lighting circuit in my garage..

Happy enough with the theory of it but its the practical side that I am struggling with.

Theres some very easy to inderstand pictures on the net of how to wire in hall, stairs and landing lighting and I'm hoping there will be something as easy as that to follow somewhere!

Any help/advice would be great!

Cheers

Took a good while to get my head around it but I thought that..

Using the existing wiring for the ceiling rose to the light,
3 core and earth from ceiling rose to a junction box,
3 core and earth from the junction box to the PIR,
2 core and earth from the same junction box to the switch.

But, then after all that I thought for all that faffing about I might as well just fit a standard security light with a PIR already on it to the far wall..

I worked on the electrics/avionics on aircraft for 15 years but I still manage to mess up household lighting wiring!

That will work fine as long as the Pirs use relay switching, some don't.
