Hi all, looking for some advice please. DIY and me are not the best of friends but needs must some times! I have to fit a light fitting to plasterboard ceiling. The light fitting comes with the fixings(picture attached) but i am not sure if they will do for plasterboard? I know there are other fixing available but really dont know if I need to buy something different or what is best. The old light fitting was attached the joist but I cant fix the new one in the same place as it has a smaller base and it wont cover the current hole in the plasterboard with the electrical wire through it.

This is the light. Naira 3 Light - https://www.oakslighting.co.uk/product/5157-3#19185-37783-38733

those supplied plugs are next to useless.
Depending on the weight of the fitting, screw in, or toggle fixings.
Best is getting a screw back in the joist.. or can you get above and fix a strapper between joists?

I always use spiral plasterboard fixings when fixing relatively light (non heavy) lights to plasterboard.
In your described case I'd probably rather fix the fitting to the joist and repair the ceiling afterwards though. Always fix to something solid if you have the option.
