Hi,

I am going to buy myself with a 6 or 8 tread set of steps as I just cannot manage with the 4 tread.

I have two roof bars on my can, they are the rhino bars.

Whats the best way to secure the steps to these? I have seen ladder clamps but not sure if they are suitable etc.

If you keep your steps on your van roof, I'd be interested to knout you fix them down.

Thanks

Cable ties, off cuts of singles, shoddy old rope, and always hang them towards the front so you can see them, that way you know if they're gone haha!! Ladder clamps and a bloody good padlock usually pal!

Ladder clamps and a padlock - if you don't think its adequate, add extra support with either bungee's or tie-wraps. Although to be fair, ladder clamps are pretty decent.

Rhino are the nuts, i agree, nuts at pricing.

You can get just as good and cheaper alternatives. Although, i must admit Rhino stuff is 1st class.

Ladder clamps with a padlock. If you don't leave them on then a bit of rope is better than bungee's. The van/car will rock before the steps budge if done proper

Yes the rhino safe clamps are awesome just fit normal way but they just have a lever that you ratchet over to one side and have a built in lock so no need for padlocks or having to twist down on to the ladders nice but about 45.00 + vat but 3times faster and more secure, plenty of video reviews on you tube - rhino safeclamp

thought he said fixing to van roof. i was going to suggest some unistrut, zebedees and threaded rod.

I've just ordered myself some rhino safe clamps, they will be here early this week with my new steps, they look really good and so easy. I see. Lot of people with ladders on roofs, but not that many with fibreglass steps. I'm sure it will all fit ok. Thanks, I'll post a pic when I get a min once arrived!

like anything else mate you get what you pay for, they are top quality and will last you years if looked after

the screwed stud ones are ok for the cost, but mine started to rust after a couple of years and the thread on the stud breaks down and doesnt hold tight on the screw point

they are however a step up from bits of rope and cable ties!!
