fixing to fence?

hi i have an outdoor socket that needs to be fixed to a sort of chain link fence? im trying to think what can secure to fence to get a good fixing. chipboard etc wont do will just get damaged with weather . any ideas please ?

Do You have to fix to the fence? not sure this would be suitable.
Can you not install a dedicated post arrangement set in concrete?

Bang an off cut off wooden fence post / make shift stake into the ground and fix your socket to this

2 vertical lengthhs of unistrut, 3ft. in ground 3 ft'above. 2 crosss members of strut and fix socket with Zebedees.

Bang an old bit of old 4 x 4 fencing post in the ground and just screw the socket to it

Or just wrap the socket in an old lidl bag and throw it on the floor like most people seem to do

Fixing to a chain link type fence isn't a reliable option, there's too much movement. As per Tel or Dusty, drive or bury something into to ground. A treated wooden post lasts longer than galv steel from my experience plus hammering steel into the ground unless you know for sure what's in there always gives me the heebiejeebies but both are viable options.

Which ever way you decide to do it, the main thing to think about is, make sure its adequately secured and not easily dislodged and safe under general use, and is positioned so that it is less likely to get damaged by gardeners/ground staff etc... when they are doing their general maintenance.
