Flat roof

Hi,

It's been a while since posting anything, but I have a question that perhaps someone can answer.

I have a developer that wants to put solar panels on a flat roof - approximately 6kW. The only way these can be mounted is totally flat with no angle to increase yield etc. I know all the reasons why you shouldn't, however, this is the only way to achieve the kWh with quantity of panels, shading and other limitations.

Is there any such proprietary equipment on the market that will satisfy this please?

what material is the flat roof? Felt, fiberglass,EPDM,etc?

Renusol Console as an example. Plenty of suppliers.

The roof is felt.

The console solution wont work because these panels need to be laid flat and spaced 20mm apart because of the limitation in roof area.

As far as I know there is nothing on the market which satisfies this and hence my post so that someone can tell me otherwise??

just use any of the rail based fat roofing systems which have rails that sit flat to the roof, then just fit the panels direct to the rails.

Not sure about balast, I suppose you'd need a system with ballast plates and very thin ballast such as paving slabs.

Personally I'd aim to get at least a slight slope on the panels so the water runs off to reduce dirt accumulation.

I would echo Gavin's last point about having some slope. The Solion system is flatter than the Console (only 10 degrees).

I agree I would prefer to install the panels with some pitch but it just isn't possible.

Do you have any suggestions on the ballast plates?

East West system - I did rule out but I cannot remember why at the moment! I shall have to look at this again.

I know the K2 East/West, whose make is in the photo, or just any that is less expensive.

Hi there new to this forum but I have used the renusol bucket kit with ballast and straps on the back of the panels but i find this way much better as it all strengths together due to using one slab with a felt tile underneath for 2 rails therefore tieing all the panels into each other so with less weight you have a lower less on view system..

Many points and reasons i can make why this is a good way of doing things

Or is it that you trying to beat the 200mm rules?

ALso consider Schletter (we NEVER use schletter, so can't say if it's still available) they used to have a two rail systen with one elevated Systems for pitched roofs - Pitched roof - Solar mount. system - Schletter GmbH - System FixZ-7
