hi every1 i came across a light in a mates house its in the toilet when the light is switched on its ok it lights up but when u switch it off the light keeps flickring and wont turn off they had 2 take the buble out to stop it i put a new buble in and still the same result theres no lose concetions either any ideas?

Could be a loose connection within the switch itself have you tried a different switch. Had a similar job myself and like you checked everything swapped the switch problem solved.

i advised the customer to have the light fitting chaged as its very old and rusty lol mite as well change the pull cord as well the hole flat is dogey wiring but cusmoter isint willing to pay out for re wire.

one more question if you got called out customer saying all down stairs lights ant working due 2 a leak from up stairs bathroom, when u get there u relisen the MCB triped and all it needs is resetting how much would u charge?

Normally I quote for the job or an hourly rate. Decide what your hourly rate is and charge that for a callout, that should cover travel to and from the property and your time at the premises if it is well under the hour.

I had a similar problem. After carrying out an insulation resistance test on the switch line and turns out that there was leakage in the switch line. Run in new switch line and problem solved.
Best regards,

My thoughts on this are that you will only rip someone off once.........

If it was only around the corner from my house, I would not charge in the hope of local recommendation if I have had to travel a short distance I would charge an hours labour.

On the invoice state reset circuit breaker, test and inspect circuit, an hours labour is more than fair for that.

In addition to Brians post above you can get electronic impulse relays, so no thud as they switch in and out.
