I have the deepest sympathy for all the home and business owners who have had their christmas ruined by the events of the last few days.

Like those in the West Country - lets all hope they can get back in their homes and businesses as soon as possible.

We got it all around us in the local towns, villages and cities, there is a tolerance to it as its not too uncommon with known stretches of river like the Calder but its never been this bad.

we're lucky here. 6 miles from the nearest river and a couple of hundred feet above it. even in the town where the river weaver flows, it's always a few feet below street level.
