Hi,

I have recently installed a few commercial floodlights with built in photocells, all has been well up to tonight!

They all boot up ok but 2 of them will cut off then reboot again, this keeps repaeting, It has also tripped a couple of times.

Anyone had any experience with this problem?

Thanks

I cant remember what make they are, it was a few week back, there is 5 on the same feed and other 3 are fine, its just these 2 that keep resetting, nothing to do with temp? could a wrong bulb cause this?

Hope I dont have to swap them!

I would not panic too much yet. Are the two dodgy ones suffering from light/heat pollution from anywhere? Try swapping lamps as suggested earlier. If the lights are faulty try exchanging the photocell for another, as this can be the first part to go iffy on the cheaper ones.

With these type of fittings you will have a large inrush of current and though you only have a load of 350watt that in rush would give that fuse spur quite an hammering.

I would look at putting it on a little single way enclosure with a 6amp C type MCB, making sure you have a low enough Zs for disconnection.

Also you may find that it could be just the lamps. These type of lamps when breaking down often do as you describe. They fire up and then go off, once cooled down they fire up again, untill eventually failing completely
