Hi

I am after some floodlights for domestic use - most of the ones I have found seem to be PIR.

I am looking for one that will work on PIR sensor but also allow manual permanent switching on and off from inside the house from a wall switch.

Does anyone know a product that can do this?

If I buy one that is designed to be switched can I then have a PIR added to it?

(I am not an electrician BTW - just sourcing it)

Lots of very nice looking LED floodlights on the market, with and without PIR sensor. Have a Google!

Better choose one of the others then.

Any light without a PIR will be suitable (and a few with a PIR also, where the wiring between the sensor and the light is accessible).

Yes.

All the PIR sw. units can have a remote overide sw.fitted.
There are now some good LED floodlights coming on the market at very good prices. check the WEB
Separate remote PIR`s can also be wired to several LED floodlights if preferred but will cost a little more.
Make your plans clear to your electrician how you require it work, this will determine the quoted price.

Thnks

Maybe it is safer to buy without a PIR coz I know it will definitley be switched and then add a PIR on.

Are LED lights the way to go thesedays? Any particular brightness the norm for a garden?

Why not find yourself a good local electrician (who, going by your statement above, is going to be installing this anyway), and get him to recommend tried and trusted gear that he's used before. If he supplies the lights and PIR, he'll guarantee that it'll all work correctly.

and that's the best advice you could have, along with previous posts. why buy something that may not be suitable when your electrician will know. 30watt or 40watt LED floods are close in light output to 300/400watt halogens at 1/10th of the running costs.

That will work fine as long as the Pirs use relay switching, some don't.
