I have been asked to install floormounted sockets into a new domestic building extension. I m a little confused as there are regs regarding the safe installation but it contridicts the recommondations within Part M. Any advice would be welcome.

AFAIK (and correct me if I'm wrong) if the customer has specifically asked you to install sockets outside the allowed zones then it's ok as long as you note it on the EIC.

You could always install an SFCU on the wall above the socket (as you would with a washing machine etc.)
