Hi has anybody had any experiance with floorboxes?
Looking and installing 32 of them and just wondering about time-scale to cut them all out? Looking at jigsaw'ing them all and they have a aluminium cover each side and a mdf centre, im expecting to be going through a few blades!!

What floor boxes do you mean, when you say floor box to me it usually means dropping a made to fit box in pre - installed floor trunking and just trimming the square tiled carpet back, if your on about a self contained floor box just hope you have visual access to the floor cavity your cutting into as a jigsaw blade goes deep and you have a high risk of hitting wires pipes etc if your not careful.

Its a raised floor with 600 x 600 boards. The floor boxes need sinking into the boards so require all cutting out, planning on lifting the boards out and jigsawing on a workbench. Wondering on time issue?

Hmmmm a floor system i haven't come across before so your saying its a 600/600 metal sandwich with a chipboard filler, this system by design should have a pre-cut square available for such needs as a floor socket id look into seeing if such an accessory is available, it would be a poor floor system that dosnt have a drop in pre-cut square for what is a common item fitted to such floors.

Yeah about 600 x 600. Yeah is a bit strange as the flooring is raised off the floor so you would expect the option to be there. Think it would cost more to source boards with the floorboxes already in,ones ive ordered are pre built with 2 x gang sockets and 2 x rj45. It just means ive got to send a fair bit of time preping them

around 10mins a tile including marking cutting why remove one by one strip as many as you need then cut the boxes Iv fitted were nice and easy with dimensions on instruction leaflet

Raised floors that I've worked on previously have had fairly heavy racks sitting on either side of a central walkway. Were told never to lift more than 3, non consecutive tiles at any time due to risk of someone bumping into a rack and a Tom and Jerry episode occurring. Most likely VERY over cautious, but danger is probably there. Issued jigsaws and blades were rubbish, (nearly used a rude word or two there!), NEVER, EVER cut straight, blades bent all the time, so hole on top wasn't the same size as hole on bottom. I think this was due to the sandwich construction of the tile. Maybe plunge cut with a circular saw to the top surface dimensions of the hole to give the jigsaw a guide?. Best of luck, let us know how it goes. After 32 holes, you'll be an expert!!

the floor fitters use a band saw as for Not lifting 3 consecutive tiles I was told the same not for equipment as none was installed but for the rest of the floor as part of its strtength is preventing the sideways movement

Lifting them is easy if you have a car repair sucker or a cheap disabled addaption sucker handle
