Started with flu yesterday in the middle of a job. Worked through it but today just can't do anything. Major bummer as I'm booked up next week and needed today and tomorrow to finish current job. Hope I'm better for weekend otherwise I'm screwed! Not fair. :(

One of the joys of being self employed. Do you have a mate you trust who could help you out for a day or so?

Having said that, put your feet up and catch up on the dreay day time telly!

Oh no not the dreaded man flu, get yourself to the chemist and buy some day and night nurse capsules, bit pricey but work wonders!

Get well soon!

I worked shifts and got hit with a cold/flu every 8 weeks so I decided to get a flu jab for £10 from Sainsburys or Asda and it was worth every penny now I am no longer working shift I still get the jab for a £10

Please no jokes about me getting it for free

I was getting the flu so took myself to mallorca for a couple of weeks 30 plus degrees worked wonders....lol

Get well soon

Thanks everyone. I feel like crud, hoping to get the job finished on Sat and Sun. Beechams here I come. And night nurse. xx

You have my sympathy, the thought of getting the flu makes me nervous
If I get the flu it hits me hard.my smokers chest can't handle it

By the way, You haven't been coughing all over this thread have you ? :smiley2:

they had a couple of tables in Glasgow train station on Friday when I was in and about 3 dozen people running about with clipboards intercepting passengers getting off the trains or waiting to get onto them, directing them to the boo ts in the station, all I was thinking was if somebody arrives off the train the general idea is to get out of the station and onwards to where they are going asap speedy......and if waiting to get on a train to sit for 10 hours to London, would they really want sticking with a needle first?....

Yep I would do it in fact I had my shot or jab last Thursday at Sianburys's for £8 I was told it would take about 21 days for it to give me full protection from the strains given . So why did I do it well as a shift worker for 16 years I used to get a kicking but must admit since chucking shifts a couple of years ago I have had fewer episodes but it worth the £8 just to escape from one of the strains as I could spend more on flu remidies

Oldtimer I know what you mean about shifts! I worked shifts for 10 years and they are hell on your body. I found it was fine until I turned 30 and then its was like someone flicked a switch and I was ill every couple of weeks. Must just be a coincidence but whenever I have had the flu jab I have had flu about a month later so I dont bother now. I really advocate staying warm, whenever I stay cold for half a day or so its almost a cert that I will come down with something...

Yep basic hygene standards of washing your hands helps but I agree shifts can give you a kicking as at one stage I was getting a cold or flu every 6-7 weeks so I opted for the jab my doctor thought I was at it until I handed in a flu form from the private surgery for my medical file where he asked me how much I paid I told him with bus fares into the town centre it was about £30 which I pointed out I would have gladly paid my surgery just to save the time thats when he told me there was no system in place that would charge me yet if there was it would stop the people from abroad getting a cheap flight to get free treatment. Any as I said well you could have gained because you are tooled up for it yes oldpeople and the sick get it free but it is my choice and I know I have to pay for it so £8 it ok if it saves you 1 flu and £15-£20 for lemsips etc

they just recalled about 40 million doses, NHS running short but sales pushers in the highstreet have plenty to sell.......they are advertising for nurses paying them £30 an hour + travel, meals and accommodation to do this.....and hiring young students to do the sales push....

My squids and I have just had our flu jabs......the nurse told us they jabbed over 3,000 people last year and it looks like the uptake is much higher this year. Nothing worse than being in bed shivering and achy :puke:

hubby was complaining of the shivers before he left tonight... thinking i may have him in bed for a few days ---
