hi just wondering if any body has any ideas on where the best place to get my 1653 repaired i belive the personb i lent it to blew the motherboard

Had to send mine back to Fluke - fixed fee at that time wad ÂŁ221 + handling + vat. Only trouble was i sent them a 1653 and got back a 1652 - eventually found they put it in the wrong body.

gregb, The GS38 input protection on the Fluke 165x series MFTs is internal because Fluke use unfused leads. When 'Error 1' appears at switch on, this usually means a blown input protection circuit, Fluke use a sophisticated active/passive system which requires specialist components and a firmware reset. There is a fuse in the battery box but when this fails you get a 'Fuse' message at switch on.

The TL165X/UK supplied with 1650 are fused, there are two types of error 1, one is a firmware update (cheaper) one is a repair (expensive)
Is the meter under warrenty (3 years), if so Fluke should deal with it for you.
