I’m looking to upgrade my Cat5e tester and buy a decent brand. The cheap ones are hopeless. You do get what you pay for unfortunately.

I’ve seen a few people use these..

Or a Fluke Microscanner2

I’ve found a use one on eBay that looks in excellent condition. Any advice would be great.

I've got one of these and think it's the dog's .........
Not cheap.

It not only checks the cable is theoretically ok, it checks it actually works using the real protocols.
It depends how much you do this kind of work as to whether it's worth it.

What level of testing do you need to be able to carry out?

Is this for day to day basic testing to check for mis-wires, shorts etc or are you looking for full certification testing?

It’s just basic testing, shorts etc obviously Poe is handy too. I’ve got a cheap basic 8 light tester but it’s hopeless 😂
