A quick question-

We live in a new build apartment, and outside our main doors there is a flurescant circular light, that has never worked since we moved in. We have a maintenance company that has been contacted but are useless and we wont see them in a hurry. I have checked the 2d bulb that works okay, in the fuse cupboard the supply for those lights is on. Any ideas of what the problem could be, and if its something simple.

Thanks

Liam

It could well be a non-maintained emergency fitting, in which case it would only light up in a power failure, or when tested at the key-switch position.
As lenny said, it would have an illuminated LED to show correct charging.

Thanks for the replies-

Im guessing its maintained as the other lighting in the communal areas are, However there is no green or red light lit on the fitting.

On the other two blocks of apartments, there light fittings operate from the internal supply when ativated by a pir sensor and work great, but even though our internal lights work the two over each entrance door dont.

Thanks

If they is no Red light on and only one out ,it is more like the transformer with in it has failed ,as its near a door it would be an emergancy light but with no red lght on its U,S

I bought my house when it was 2 years old. It had a lovely carraige lantern outside the front door. It never worked. After getting settled in I thought right lets sort that light out...Checked the lamp, it was fine..looked for switch or someway the light was controlled...nothing.....thought right lets get the fitting off the wall and see how its wired.....mmmmmmmmmmm what wires:eek:.......it was just screwed to the wall for effect...lazy gets.
