Hey fellas,

Lighting circuit protected by 10A MCb feeding some fittings in an office. Supply 1.5mm T&E loop in through ceiling roses, flex down to suspended fitting and terminated into a choc block internal of fitting. Out of this choc block is the fittings internal wiring consisting of 0.8mm solid core cable which goes into the ballast. Same wire (but white) coming out of ballast to end caps.

My question is....should these fittings be locally fused to say 3A as the 0.8mm coming out of the choc block is in theory protected by the 10A MCB back at board?

I hope that makes sense and somebody could clear it up for me. Reason....removed some old fittings which WERE fused and fitted new ones which are NOT. I was told some fittings do not require it, is this correct?

thanks in advance

If the manufacturer states fittings are suitable to be fused at 10A then whatever size wire it is internally is fine, If they say 6A in there data, then fuse them down. Most fittings have very small internal wiring but you have to remember 0.8mm probably takes more then you think especially in such short lengths.
Go by the data supplied with the fitiings its the only way to be sure!
