Hi all

Been out to look at a job today, Basically Theirs a large patch of Grass ( 40m x 18) Meters, A local football club use to train on of a night

At this present time their are 3 large posts approx 15 meters and 12 meters in height which have 4 Halogen floodlights on each one , These lights have been their for years and no longer work, I have been asked to replace these lights, But want to be certain I'm using a light that is going to light up the area sufficiently, Does anybody have any suggestions?

Well if they were happy with the fittings they had before, maybe you could upgrade them upto a LED floodlight which would be a lot brighter and the lamps lifespan would be more than long enough to last a few years.

Not personally no, but I am sure your local wholesaler would be more than happy to help.

Is the club happy with the light output from halogen lights that are currently there? (When they worked obviously)
What size halogens are they?

On a slightly separate note please also consider light pollution and try to get fittings that light the pitch and not the volume above the area. You should be able to get shrouded fittings with light cut off, these will provide plenty of downward light but little upward light.

I attach a institution of lighting engineers document giving some guidance.

However I think the best lighting would come from MH lighting, but worth looking into LED if they can be lowered somewhat.
