R

rocker

Traced an IR fault on a ring to a socket in a very untidy teenager's bedroom. The room was literally shin-deep in rubbish, and the socket was handily behind an in-built bed, with a very VERY thin space up the end of it.

I should have realised I was in trouble when, half way crawling/slithering up the end of the bed, I knocked a DVD player off the widowsill which hit me right in the head.

So I test at the socket and try to get out. Unfortunately in shuffling out backwards I manage to a) get entirely stuck, and b) get my tester and probes stuck underneath me, and am leaning on the 'test' button.

So I'm getting the full 500V, I am beyond stuck and literally can't move, and the only person in the house is the disabled guy downstairs. Of course, the power is off so his stairlift doesn't work, even if he could help! So I have to wait for the battery to run out (a good 10 minutes) and then wait about an hour before this guy's son comes home and can pull me out.

I need a beer.

:D:D i can`t even post a reply to this that would not need editing so i won`t :D all i can say is i wish we had video but the mental image is nearly quite as good. does your meter just keep giving the 500v out then till you stop perssing the button?

You're not wrong mate all that was missing was the family dog coming in and biting him on the butt...

Ha ha sorry guys, Durhamsparky decided to ring me up to take the pee personally for a while....

You can 'lock' the tester by pressing f2 which makes it keep on a-meggering, but this time (i think) what happened is I had the probe jammed between my back and the tester, and it was pushing down on the test button. Right on the spine! Ut really hurts and makes you get crazy legs! Mind you, afyter the first four or five minutes, you tend to get used to it.....

Thanks for all the sympathy, by the way!
