"if you can replace " skilled or instructed persons" with "numpties" then i'd give all sockets a C2."

Tel you wrote this on a closed thread, but its relevant to a situation that I'm faced with now.

Apart from the boss who is the instructed person I have no faith that people will use their brains in a situation. The sockets can easily be used by the public or staff would you C2 or C3 this? I am torn as I feel both are valid codes.

Regards,

Chris

The new Amendment out shortly address this issue and believe its going to tighten the regulation to mean the skilled or instructed person has good electrical knowledge.... I can't remember the exact wording but its a general idea of how its been updated.

I've heard from jan of next year instructed no longer exists, but its chewing me a little as I really don't trust 99% of the people who would walk in to this place

if the sockets can be used outside, then a C2. if they should have been RCD protected according to the regs. in force at the time theyt were installed, a C2 again. if installed to previous regs. e.g. 15th, then a C3 unless there is a potential danger then it's a C2 again. ( this is my personal take without seeing the installation, neither i nor my dogs and frog accept liability for acting on the above and upsetting some poor sod who thinks the world owes them a living).

The installation was designed to 16th edition. The sub boards are being changed and therefore being brought up to date. There is no chance of things being used externally.

Its more the fact that instructed person is being phased out, the instructed person that is there at the moment may not always be there, and if the guy that was there before him had still been there then I would not have considered him to be an instructed person.

Plus the fact that some of the cleaners gear isn't PAT tested and the normal thing of items from outside the premises could be bought in and cause ****

Based on what I've said is that a its your call and I'm overreacting?

I know EICR's are subjective at best, but I like these people and don't want to be the guy that is "upgrading" for money etc

This is how the new amendment will word things

Instructed person (electrically). Person adequately advised or supervised by electrically skilled persons to
enable him/ or her to perceive risks and to avoid hazards which electricity can create.

Ordinary person. Person who is neither a skilled person nor an instructed person.

Skilled person (electrically). Person with relevant education and experience to enable him/ or her to perceive risks and to avoid hazards which electricity can create.
