just worked out a simple bit of maths. in order to get back just the tax i've spent on smokes alone from my miserable pension, i need to survive another 15 years. then another 14 to recover NI, 10 years to get back beer tax. that means i'll be 108 before i even start on income tax and VAT. sobering thought, innit.

Well Salt in the wounds an all that.

I've never smoked.
I've only had about 20pints of real alcohol (excludes a short period on that low alcohol sh"t) in my whole life.

However I've paid plenty of tax, only ever been S/E for a total of about 5years.
A plus as an over 65 earner is we don't pay National insurance anymore.

Are you sure about that.

Having not smoked for about 25 years now, I'm glad smokers carry on and contribute to my pension!

"I've only had about 20pints of real alcohol (excludes a short period on that low alcohol sh"t) in my whole life." How the hell have you managed that??? You are definitely not normal and don't deserve a pension.

I quit the weed a couple of years ago,so somewhere around the house should be about 10 grand in theory, not found it yet though.

20 pints is just a normal week of keeping dehydration at bay. if drinking seriously, 20 pints is just 2 trips to the pub. ( just for the record, i do not drive to and from the pub, no animals or children are hurt/abused, guests are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, a credit check may be necessary, regulated by the financial services authority and the association of master brewers ).
