I am working on a refurb and when I lifted a floor board I discovered a junction box with screw terminals in it. My question is do I have to move this to an accessible point or is it acceptable to leave it there. It is not part of any circuits that I will be working on its the lighting for the lower floors

I would argue that if you have found this jb then it is accessable
The very term accessable can mean so many things to different people
Does it need to be staring you in the eye to be accessable? or
Does picking up a carpet/floor board etc still mean it is so

I certainly wouldn't move it,note where you observed it on your paperwork if you feel inclined

Take into account
If you move it,you are now involved with the circuit and its compliance, where will your involvement stop if you then move it and find other non compliances along the way?

thanks guys will note it on my paperwork and leave as is. I could see this job turning into a full rewire if I get involved in it.

Nothing to do with your post but I found a gold and diamond bracelet under a floor board last week. me being very honest I gave it to the house owner. did not even get a drink out of it :-(

There are loads of stories of fivers etc. being found under carpets and the like, apparently the common answer is to leave them there but glue them to the floor board, as they are sometimes put there to test the honesty of the tradesman, this may be just one story repeated a million times. It is common to find a stash of ---- under the carpets though !

Deviating even further; in the 80's working in an ex church (became the limelight club) we found a box (about 2m x 1/2m x 1m) full of ---- mags:eek: ~ apparently the presbetarians were saving souls gathering it from local stores & conducted ---- amnesties to the local populace etc.:D

Needless to say tea-breaks & lunch breaks were spent reviewing said rags by the whole site~ got a bit boring in the end. Having a Mrs saved my eye-sight though!:D:eek::D
