Banned for fresh water I know but OK for use at sea where I fish.

In the eightes it was common to find it in houses as i recall but honestly dont see it too much now.... OMG im getting old

a few years back i visited a house the old dear was in her 90s and every original fitting and vir cable was still in place untouched since install,couldnt say anything directly to her as didnt want to frighten her,reported back to the firm i worked for at the time,left it with them to deal with.still loads of lead and virs still in service,last year on a rewire found still in service dp fusing on old switchfuses.

when i rewired one of my mothers houses she has down shrewsbury a few years back...that had a load of lead and VIR in it...tell you what though it was all in good nick for its age...the VIR was crusty though..lol...

Yesterday I finally found a example of cotton cable inside wooden capping, loads of it broken up and chucked under floor boards.

Found plenty of VIR in service but nothing older than that still in use
