Now I'm pretty sure my memory isn't playing tricks on me about all those days out in the german forest with the military xxxx wet through and freezing cold, or has there been some sort of meterological effect I didn't know about since then.

Oh, sorry, she's American, she probably doesn't know where Germany is, just that America beat them single handidly in the war to save the rest of the world!! (as a result of which she probably thinks it's just off the south coast of Japan!)

Having visited the U.S. the scary bit is how many people believe the lies told by Rupert Murdoch on Fox News. It is even more tawdry than his newspapers like the Times and Sun. More frightening still is if people really want to know what is going on in the world they have to tune in to BBC World or Al-Jezeera. This is now where the better informed American get their news.
