Hi all,
looking for some advice as i've just installed a 2-wire fire alarm system with sounder basis with multiple detectors and call points. On my spec all drops to call points and control panel were to be enclosed in mini trunking. On inspection the building inspector informed me it is now regulation for all drops on this type of system has to be in red trunking rather than white like i've done. Is this the case or is he being awkward ?
Also is it within regulation to run mains cable to supply control panel in the same trunking ?

I think it is now unfortunately, could just put red lid on! Lol
As for running power with it, that is fine as FP is self segragating, however I would also run the supply cable in FP.
We always put a Key switch marked fire alarm for local isolation as well.

I can't find any requirement in BS 5839 for red coloured containment.

Reference is made to identification of fire alarm wiring in that it should be of the same colour throughout.

Although the specification for FP200 will satisfy BS 5839 and BS 7671:2008 segregation requirements, the mains supply to the panel should enter through a different cable entry point and be kept apart inside the enclosure as far as is practicable.

I hate to tell you this Andy, but you have to buckle clip or P clip the FP200 inside the trunking as well. Can’t remember the particular regulation but Bill from Accordfire might remember it.
