I went to look at some work etc at a new clients house the other day and they had recently been offered and accepted a free electrical check of their property along with a report. Obviously the long term aim was to gain any upgrades needed, nobody does something for nothing.
The client showed me the report, they had reported a TN-S system...it was a TNCS.
they also kept pulling up no RCD protection and put a code 1 against it and the other thing that caught my attention was that there was no main bonding to the water or oil incomer and that one of them should be bonded.
When asked by the client how the installation was, she was told that there was nothing really wrong with it and nothing to worry about and then gave them a price to change the consumer unit and do the bonding to one or other of the services.
The engineer was on site for no more than an hour.
