Did a quick little job earlier in an old farmhouse kind of place, very very in need of a complete rewire and unlikely to get one for another generation!

Anyway, didn't like my chances with isolating the bit I was working with by pulling the old 3036's, so just turned the whole place off at the main switch.

Got back to where I was working, and there was a light still on. A headscratch, a revisit to the cupboard, a check with the meter...later, and the old boy customer wanders in and says 'oh yes, that light is always on unless I take the bulb out. I think it must come from next door.'

Nice.

(and a lesson in why we practice safe isolation!)

Only last week i turned everything off. Plugged my continuity tester into a socket in the loft and it showed warning live 240v. head scratching thought bugger me i couldn't have turned everything off went down checked everything was off went back up and traced the cable back and it was going next door! and on my way through the loft i found a suspicious looking green leaf item. So next doors had been paying for someones dealings! The place was an empty.

oh yes - I remember your other thread, now!
